ACCESS Center
The Access Center is a national technical assistance (TA) center funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs. ACCESS Center’s mission is to improve educational outcomes for elementary and middle school students with disabilities.
Alliance for Education
The mission of the Alliance for Excellent Education is to promote high school transformation to make it possible for every child to graduate prepared for postsecondary education and success in life.
Center for Improving Teacher Quality
In October 2002, the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), through its Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC), was awarded funding from the Office of Special Education Programs at the US Department of Education to develop a national center to work with states on developing models for improving the preparation, licensing, and professional development of both GENERAL and SPECIAL education teachers of students with disabilities. The award totals approximately $5 million over 5 years.
IRIS Center for Faculty Enhancement
The IRIS Center for Faculty Enhancement was designed in response to a request from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs. This national effort, serving college faculty working in pre-service preparation programs, aims to ensure that general education teachers, school administrators, school nurses, and school counselors are well prepared to work with students who have disabilities and with their families. IRIS is the nation's only faculty enhancement center established for this purpose.
National Center for Culturally Responsive Educational Systems
The National Center for Culturally Responsive Educational Systems (NCCRESt), a project funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s office of Special Education Programs, provides technical assistance and professional development to close the achievement gap between students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and their peers, and reduce inappropriate referrals to special education. The project targets improvement in culturally responsive practices, early intervention, literacy, and positive behavior supports. NCCRESt mission is supporting state and local school systems to assure quality, culturally responsive education for all students.
National Center for Special Education Accountability Monitoring
The National Center for Special Education Accountability Monitoring (NCSEAM), also known as the National Monitoring Center, is federally funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) of the U.S. Department of Education to assist states, local agencies, and OSEP in the implementation of focused monitoring and evidenced-based decision-making about compliance with federal law so that improved results are achieved for children with disabilities and their families. NCSEAM is housed at the Human Development Center at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans.
National Center to Improve the Tools of Educators
NCITE's purpose is to advance the quality and effectiveness of technology, media, and materials for individuals with disabilities. NCITE creates a marketplace demand for the selection and appropriate use of research-based technology, media, and materials (TMM).
National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities
NICHCY serves the nation as a central source of information on: 1) disabilities in infants, toddlers, children, and youth, 2) IDEA, which is the law authorizing special education, 3) No Child Left Behind (as it relates to children with disabilities), and 4) research-based information on effective educational practices.
National Mental Health Information Center
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) National Mental Health Information Center provides information about mental health via a toll-free telephone number (800-789-2647), this web site, and more than 600 publications. The National Mental Health Information Center was developed for users of mental health services and their families, the general public, policy makers, providers, and the media. Information Center staff members are skilled at listening and responding to questions from the public and professionals. The staff quickly directs callers to Federal, State, and local organizations dedicated to treating and preventing mental illness. The Information Center also has information on Federal grants, conferences, and other events.
National Rural Education Association
The National Rural Education Association (NREA) is the oldest established national organization of its kind in the United States. Formerly known as the REA, the Association traces its origins back to 1907 when it was originally founded as the Department of Rural Education. Through the years it has evolved as a strong and respected organization of rural school administrators, teachers, board members, regional service agency personnel, researchers, business and industry representatives and others interested in maintaining the vitality of rural school systems across the country.
National Secondary Transition Technical Assistance Center
It's purpose is to assist states to build capacity to support and improve transition planning, services, and outcomes for youth with disabilities.
National Staff Development Council
The National Staff Development Council (NSDC) is the largest non-profit professional association committed to ensuring success for all students through staff development and school improvement. The Council views high quality staff development programs as essential to creating schools in which all students and staff members are learners who continually improve their performance.
Southeast Regional Resource Center
The Southeast Regional Resource Center (SERRC) is one of six Regional Resource Centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs. The RRCs assist states in carrying out activities that support programs for special education and related services for infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities and their families.

The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) is dedicated to improving results for infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities ages birth through 21 by providing leadership and financial support to assist states and local districts.

Council for Exceptional Children
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

Florida Center for Reading Research
FCRR Reports are prepared in response to requests from Florida school districts for review of specific reading programs. The reports are intended to be a source of information about programs that will help teachers, principals, and district personnel in their choice of materials that can be used by skilled teachers to provide effective instruction. In addition to describing programs and their use, these reports provide information on the extent to which their content, organization, and instructional strategies are consistent with scientifically based research in reading. Whether or not a program has been reviewed does not constitute endorsement or lack of endorsement by the FCRR. The programs for which reports are available do not constitute an approved or required list, since many potentially useful programs have not yet been reviewed.
Oregon Reading First
The following report, the Review of Comprehensive Reading Programs, describes the work of the Oregon Curriculum Review Panel and the Oregon Reading First Center, who had responsibility for conducting a critical review of comprehensive curriculum programs in beginning reading for the first cohort of 34 schools participating in Oregon Reading First. The results of the Oregon Reading First Curriculum Review Panel's work are presented here. The report consists of a main body and 12 sections which are structured in the following way. The main body of the report describes the procedures used to review the nine comprehensive programs that met the criteria used in Oregon for inclusion as a comprehensive beginning reading program. The main body of the report also summarizes the primary results of the review and the reliability of the procedures used in conducting the review.
University of Kansas Center of Research on Learning
The University of Kansas had developed the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM), a comprehensive approach to adolescent literacy that addresses the need of students to be able to read and understand large volumes of complex reading materials as well as to be able to express themselves effectively in writing.
